Sports Redux: Let's Go Colt-olt-olt-olt-

coltsfans.jpgWe're sad to report that the NFL has determined there's no fire to go with the smoke. As sure as people were, and as hopeful as we were that it was true, the league has said there's no evidence that the Colts were piping in artificial crowd noise Sunday against the Patriots.

CBS blames faulty equipment in the truck to explain why, at one point during the game, it sounded like a CD skipped, then went silent. Which is too bad, because the "Indianapolis Fans Greatest Cheers" CD would have been an awesome stocking-stuffer this Christmas.

It would be kind of silly, except that the Colts have been accused before of manipulating the environment inside their dome, turning the heat up and down, and yes, piping in fake noise to make their taciturn Midwestern fans seem like frenzied lunatics. On second thought, it is kind of silly.

According to the Herald, our choked-up farewell to Curt Schilling may have been premature. Sources are telling the Herald that Curt may be coming back for a one-year, incentive-laden deal. Good.

Otherwise, it's a quiet day around here (see, there's another reason why some fake Indy fans might liven things up). The Bruins play in Buffalo tomorrow, while the Celtics host Denver. The Nuggets, for their part, are in New York tonight, facing the Knicks for the first time since their vicious brawl last December.
