Boston Blotter: Police Impersonator Arrested

110707-police-officer-lawn-ornament.jpg--The man who was robbing people in the South End by impersonating a police detective has been arrested. The DA's office says that Anthony Burney, 32, of Lynn, was charged with "two counts of unarmed robbery and single counts of impersonating a police officer, kidnapping, and larceny over $250."

Burney forced one man he was robbing on a trip through the subway system. From the DA's office:

That victim described a long and bizarre trip marked by numerous left and right turns during which Burney occasionally pushed him along, called him “Ozzie,” and made him hold Burney’s jacket…. Burney also allegedly made the victim touch an open wound on Burney’s right forearm. The victim described it as “a gash, it was a flap of skin with pus coming out … but it wasn’t actively bleeding.”

Not only is he an alleged crook, but Burney is also an alleged nutter.

--Yesterday in Worcester, a man was arrested for murdering his infant child. Bruce Boddie, 31, is accused of hurting his 3-month-old, Dominic, so badly on Monday night that the child died. In the Globe report, the baby showed "obvious bruises and signs of physical harm." The baby's mother had gone shopping and left the child with Boddie when the incident happened.

--WBZ reports that the three workers who were injured in a steam explosion yesterday at a Salem power plant have died.

All charges alleged until proven under law. Image from Amazon. Burney was allegedly as fake as the pictured lawn ornament.
