Bostonist only started to plumb the depths of the offerings at the Boston Jewish Film Festival with last week's list of highlights. Another movie, The Heartbeat Detector, has also intrigued us, and it will make its New England debut tomorrow night.

Also known as "La Question Humaine," this movie follows a psychologist at a German chemical company who investigates the sanity of his boss, and the source of the troubles may be the company's crimes against humanity during World War II. As the film unfolds, the secrets begin to impact the psychologist's own mental state. The Heartbeat Detector screened at the Chicago International Film Festival, and Chicagoist calls it a "compelling portrait of ruthless corporate discipline."

Director Nicolas Klotz and writer Elisabeth Perceval will be in attendance. The festival is still going, and the schedule is packed, so there's plenty more to see in theaters all over town before the BJFF winds up on Sunday, November 11.

Still from The Heartbeat Detector from the Chicago International Film Festival website.
