Harper's Ferry Needs to Clean House

111907-bus-driver.jpgOr at least they need some sensitivity training. Via Universal Hub, we hear Harper's Ferry has some real racist assholes on its staff. There's one guy who was begging to be fired after insulting black hip-hop performer Bus Driver last week.

Bus Driver promptly refused to perform, and the other act, Daedalus, followed suit. Etan at Basstown spoke with Regan Farquhar (aka Bus Driver) and his DJ. They say the sound guy at Harper's Ferry said some appalling things, such as "That's why you need a white guy in your crew" and "you know, we hired 6 [mumbled racist slur] in the past few months and they're all outta here!"

Well, Bus Driver and Daedalus were immediately out of there after the manager wasn't exactly quick to fire the guy for insulting the performers. Daedalus has commented on his MySpace blog about the incident:

Tonight (November 13th, 2007) was supposed to be a gig at Harpers Ferry in Allston (near Boston). Because of some very inappropriate comments directed at Busdriver by a staff member at the venue we had to conclude that this gig would have been performed in a hostile environment. Everyone regrets this last minute cancelation [sic] but I hope you understand and please know how seriously we thought about this reaction. I truly wish that someday soon to play Boston or it [sic] surroundings. Again sorry!

Image of Bus Driver from his MySpace site. All charges of rampant assholism alleged. Maybe Bus Driver can come back next time--to a different venue.
