MSPCA-Angell Wine-Tasting Benefit
Tuesday, November 20, 5:30-7:30 pm
Harvard Club, 374 Comm Ave, Boston
$25--good cause!
More info

The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell will get you to open your wallets for a good cause by getting you drunk. To be more specific, the MSPCA-Angell is holding a wine-tasting focusing on Portuguese wines and Portos. The event promises more than 150 varieties to whet your palate.

The group has been busy lately. Just recently, the MSPCA rescued ducks and birds from repellent conditions out Mendon. All proceeds from the event will go to furthering the work of MSPCA-Angell. If you're suddenly inspired to adopt a pet, go to the MSPCA website.

I know you mean well and God Bless MSPCA, they are doing God's Work. However, it is possible to go to a wine-tasting without getting drunk. (In fact, that pretty much defeats the whole purpose.) Those who have actually done it know that much of the wine is not swallowed in order to:
a. taste the last wine of the flight as fully as the first and
b. get home in one piece.
(Getting drunk marks you forever as a rookie, not to mention thwarting any attempts at appearing sophisticated, particularly during a good week to get popped for DUI. My two MSPCA adoptees would agree!)
