Boston Blotter: BPD Knows How to Make Money

102207-party-police.jpg--Twenty-five enterprising members of the BPD found a way to make over $200,000 last year. 121 police officers make more money than Commish Ed Davis. This information goes to show how much money goes into the police details, and how much it would save if the state went with Governor Deval Patrick's plan to use flagmen instead of details at construction sites.

--WBZ' I-Team found that Massachusetts State Troopers caused "nearly 500 crashes in their own cruisers in the past seven years." Many of them are repeat offenders who could use a trip to traffic school.

--In Taunton, a mother allegedly went nuts early this morning and began stabbing her 10-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter. WBZ reports that the children's grandmother intervened and saved their lives. Thanks to their grandmother, the children's injuries were non-life-threatening.

--The BPD arrested three people who were dumping buckets of paint on St. Alphonsus Street. The three explained that they were "making the streets colorful." We don't know if dumping paint was the same as tagging, but Chase Koopersmith, 17, of Boston, Alisa Javits, 19, of Roxbury and Miguel Debraganca, 21, of Roxbury, were arrested. Universal Hub found that Koopersmith wrote a book while still in high school called How to Be a Teen Fashionista. How does one do it? Probably not by dumping paint in the road.

--A renegade vomiter went on the loose after ralphing on a table at the Sports Depot the evening of the 17th, according to the Daily Free Press. The suspect was already "hassling other patrons" before hurling, breaking a window, and taking off. Now that is a boot and rally, but police found him at the White Horse Tavern.
