Unless you've been living under a rock for the last 20 years, then you've seen the work of comedian/writer/actor/director Michael Ian Black. Let's rattle off just a few of his accomplishments: co-creator of "The State," "Viva Variety," and "Stella." You've seen him co-star in NBC's "Ed," as well as the movies Wet Hot American Summer, The Baxter, Reno 911: Miami, and The Ten. He's also appeared in VH1's "I Love the..." series, and some very popular commercials you might recall: the sock puppet from Pets.com and Sierra Mist. Michael's film, Run, Fatboy, Run, an incredible success in the UK, is coming to the States in March, and he's got several books and TV projects in the works, as well as his recently released I Am A Wonderful Man CD which he is now touring in support of (check out the sample track below).
Michael kindly gave up some time over the Thanksgiving weekend to talk about TaeBo, Barq's root beer, Thanksgiving bestiality/incest, what a Boston audience can expect at his show in Thursday, the finer points of the Writer's Guild strike ("we shall not be overcome"--our quotes, not his), and what the strike means for next year since the Actors' and Directors' Guilds contracts will also come up for renewal.
If his CD and comments on his newly relaunched website are any indication, then his live show is something that shouldn't be missed.
Here's the sample track "Terrorism" from Michael Ian Black's new CD, I Am A Wonderful Man:
