Boston Blotter: Crisis in Dorchester
-Some Blotter days are longer than others …
--After two teenagers were shot this morning as kids were going to school in Dorchester, police officers swarmed on the neighborhood in search of a suspect who they thought was hiding out in a triple decker on Hendry Street.
Globe reporters said the BPD was at the triple decker for two hours before deciding it was empty and that the shooter took off.
The victims' wounds are non-life-threatening. WBZ reported that the victims were targeted.
Here's a description of the perp from WBZ:
Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 5' to 5'3". He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a dark hat at the time of the shooting. According to police, the suspect fled the scene with a gun in his hand.
--Did you shop at Seaport Hardware? You might want to check your credit card statements. The former owner of the place, Erik Joseph, of Belmont, was taking card numbers from customers, setting up fake businesses, and moving money to bank accounts for those businesses. Universal Hub has a little history on that building that housed the store.
--An elderly woman struck and killed a pedestrian last night and took off, only to be swiftly arrested. 72-year-old Jane Goodman of Dedham drove her Saab into a 67-year-old Michael Dorfman of Framingham. The Herald reports that Goodman hit Dorfman while he was in a crosswalk, and Goodman is now being held on $20,000 bail.
According to WBZ's interview with a Norfolk assistant district attorney, "When they asked her how it was going, she said, 'Not very well because something big hit my car, and I didn't know what it was.' She went on to tell police that it made it difficult for her to see."
--A possible motive has emerged in the case of Ronda Healy, who was stabbed by Justin Hiser, her ex and the father of her two children. Healy's mother told Jessica Fargen at the Herald that "Hiser had recently become angry with Healy and he blamed her for not being able to get a girlfriend."
--It's a long blotter day today because of the return of the Northeastern Crime Log. An 18-year-old Northeastern student was so drunk that he nearly got himself killed on the T tracks. MBTA police found him "laying down, partially on the tracks." He had also puked. When the MBTA police tried to assist, he spat at them and was arrested. He should send them a thank-you card.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
