If you're not already a member, you should definitely join Tourfilter.com. It's a music fan's dream: a comprehensive site that lets you track your favorite bands and get e-mail updates when they're coming to town--or, in the case of local bands, playing near you. The site's also a great way to get to know new bands, since you can easily check out the other bands tracked by people with your taste. Bostonist has found plenty of awesome but semi-obscure bands on the site.
Tonight, Tourfilter creator Chris Marstall and Boston music maniac Brad from Bradley's Almanac will spin some tunes by bands who are playing in Boston soon. Go to check out your favorite band or to get a little sampler that will help you decide if you want to attend any of these shows. The lineup includes:
Broken River Prophet (TT the Bear's, 11/30)
Sidewalk Driver (Great Scott, 12/8)
Fiery Furnaces (Great Scott, 12/10)
The New Pornographers (Berklee, 12/12)
Mr. Lif (Middle East, 12/14)
Major Stars (Middle East, 12/15)
Anthems for Odyssey (TT the Bear's, 12/15)
Aimee Mann (Berklee, 12/16)
Timbaland (Tsongas Arena, 12/16)
The Magnetic Fields (Somerville Theatre, 2/14, 2/15)
In case you're not already up on how all these bands sound, you can text "Tourfilter" to 67463 during any song to get a text back with the artist currently playing, as well as when and where that band's upcoming show is. What will technology come up with next?
