Boston Blotter: Off-Duty Firefighter Stabbed

102207-party-police.jpg--An off-duty firefighter was stabbed early this morning in East Boston, possibly for racist reasons. According to WBZ, a firefighter was at Chivas Restaurant last night when he said a group of Hispanic men "they did not want any 'Gringos' at the restaurant and he should leave."

Later on, the same men followed him as he drove to the Saratoga Street fire station, and they stabbed him in the chest. His injuries are non-life-threatening. The BPD said they didn't locate any suspects.

--Two creeps stole an ATM card from an 82-year-old woman and emptied out her savings. One of the cons, Arniya Smith, got the card when the woman paid for her purchases at AJ Wright. Smith's accomplice, Dennis King, was also arrested.

--Two more creeps carjacked a cab driver early this morning downtown. The BPD found the cab, chased the perps, and fought with them after they hit a fire hydrant and took off. Darryl A. Bettis, 25, of Dorchester, and Stephen A. Brooks, 21, of Jamaica Plain, were arrested.

--Being a civil servant can't be exciting all the time, but this is ridiculous. Four employees of the city of Cambridge were arrested on drug-related charges on Friday. WCVB reports they were charged with "unlawful possession of prescription drugs" and one of them was charged with trafficking cocaine. Three of them were employed by the water department, and one worked for the fire department.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
