Happy Birthday, Charlie!

charlie.jpg

Our little boy is growing up so fast! December 4th marks the one-year anniversary of the debut of the CharlieCard, and the milestone has left General Manager Dan Grabauskas waxing poetic: "I guess you'd have to say that Charlie is a precocious child." Precocious? That's one way of putting it. Charlie loves playing practical jokes on us, like when we just need to pay for one ride, only have a $20 bill on us, and end up with 18 Sacajawea dollars jangling in our pockets for weeks. He's such a jokester, that one. Since its inception the CharlieCard has brought in an estimated $13.5 million dollars in additional revenue for the MBTA, leaving them with approximately 85 quadgazillion dollars to go before being in the black. Keep up the good work Charlie!

Any ideas for birthday presents for our dear Charlie? Let us know in the comments...

I believe you are referring to the disposable CharlieTicket, which is (I think) mainly for visitors. Residents (you) should know about the Card which offers rides at a discounted rate relative to the ticket. Just put the whole twenty bucks on the card; you know you'll use it eventually.

Oh yeah, you can pay by credit card too.
