Bite Size News

--Fires ran rampant yesterday. A mother and her son were injured last night in a fire in Somerville. One firefighter was treated and released at the hospital. [Boston Globe]

--Another fire broke out in Haverhill last night, and people were injured jumping out of the windows. No one died in the blaze, but 24 people have lost their homes. [Boston Globe, Boston Herald]

--The state Supreme Judicial Court is letting Heidi Erickson, who kept over 60 dead cats in a Beacon Hill apartment, can keep two of the dead cats. She must have one hell of a lawyer. [Boston Herald]

--Hollywood's new love of Boston has a downside. A movie crew took up 25 overnight parking spots in South Boston. We suspect it was Real Men Cry. [Platinum Elite]

--Then again, it has an upside. New movie The Great Debaters, starring Denzel Washington and partially set at Harvard, will premiere at Harvard on December 18 at the Carpenter Center. [Harvard Crimson]

--Mitt Romney's speech about religion (but not quite about his religion) didn't distract the Globe from investigating those he hires to work on his home in Belmont. (Or, as Rudy Giuliani would say, his "sanctuary mansion" in Belmont.) This time, the paper is looking into some painters that he hired this year. [Boston Globe]

The story showed me much more about the Globe than it did about Romney. Stand by for dog walkers, carpet shampooers, auto detailers, snow shovelers and anyone else who interacts with the subject of the stalking, (other than the "independent contractors" delivering the Romney's daily newspaper). Their quest is obviously a permanent one, (or at least until they can wreck his political viability and cash in on some class warfare). Pretty sad.
