Party-Hoppin: Add Some COLOR To Your Plain & Get SOLID! In Central

COLOR
Friday, December 7th
Milky Way Lounge
403 Centre Street
Jamaica Plain, MA
9pm / 21+ / $5
MySpace
w/ resident Joseph Colbourne
special guest: David Shaw
A recently added night to Boston's blossoming dance party scene, COLOR - hosted by Ben Sisto - takes on a handful of meanings. Open to all, the genres spun cover a vibrant variety. The idea behind it, too, is to join art and music, bringing in guests for both music and visuals to stimulate your senses. Tucked away in the cozy appeal of Jamaica Plain's Milky Way, Sisto has teamed up with local DJ Joseph Colbourne, who grew from DIY postpunk parties and into Philly/Soul Disco, 80s funk, and Italodisco, to name a few. Tonight's guest includes David Shaw of Shropshire - one of England's most rural and sparsely populated counties. Brought up on ABBA and Leo Sayer, Shaw incorporated his adolescence-discovered love for Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Pantera, and Suicidal Tendencies. Throw in a bit of Nine Inch Nails and Ice T, move young adulthood off of the streets and into the clubs, and you have one of the greater talents of the British DJ underbelly. Self-described as a tech & progressive house sound with a bit of trance on the side, he's become just as known to those in-the-know for his remixes as well as his original tracks.

SOLID!
Friday, December 7th
Zuzu
474 Massachusetts Ave
Cambridge, MA
11pm / 21+ / $3
w/ DJ Die Young (Basstown, Thunderdome)
Baltimoroder (Hearthrob, PanAm Friday, Thunderdome)
If you're planning on staying more Central (Square, that is), then you'll probably notice the windows vibrating over at Zuzu, where the capacity is somewhere far under 100. SOLID! runs every Friday, but Die Young and Baltimoroder have had their own night once a month for the last few, and it has absolutely packed out the venue. All through word-of-mouth, Die Young's remixing and Baltimoroder's production pair together between their chemistry of being two hard-working friends. Definitely a good place to go to have your spirits lifted, with an exceptionally good chance of running into some of the best dressed in the city. Cheers!
