School of the Museum of Fine Arts Sale
Through Sunday, December 9
12:00 pm-6:00 pm
230 The Fenway, Boston (T: Museum of Fine Arts or Ruggles)

Surprise your friends and family with original art instead of the standard old holiday presents like gadgets, bath soap, and socks. Five thousand pieces of art will be on sale at the School of Museum of Fine Arts this weekend, including original art by Ellsworth Kelly, which you can at least look at and dream about.

You can also invest in the future and pick up works from current students and recent grads, such as Crislin Meshberg, who created the painting included in this post. The artwork for sale will rotate every day, so you can keep coming back for more presents and treats for yourself.

Proceeds go to the artists and student scholarships. The press release notes that 68 percent of students at SFMA are on financial aid. Artists don't have to starve--if you buy their stuff.
