Boston Blotter: Dontel Jeffers' Mother Arrested

crime_scene_tape.jpg--The BPD arrested two people in the South End for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The gun wouldn't have been discovered if it hadn't accidentally gone off in the bathroom.

The Herald reported that the woman who was arrested was the mother of Dontel Jeffers, the child who died at the hands of his foster mother, who was recently sentenced for the crime. Laurel Sweet writes, "Crystal Claiborn [Jeffers' mother] claimed that while aiming the pistol toward her reflection in a bathroom mirror she accidentally pulled the trigger when the clip fell out, police said."

--In Monson last night, the body of a pizza delivery man was found in the woods. He was on the job at the time he went missing. A Springfield man has been arrested for his murder.

--The BPD arrested a man from Chelsea for the murder of Ruben Najera, who was found stabbed to death on November 21. The announcement also noted collaboration between the BPD and the Suffolk County DA's Office, which may suggest that the feud between police commissioner Ed Davis and DA Dan Conley really is over.

--The Somerville News reports that the former Somerville police officer who raped a child has been sentenced to life in prison.

--On Monday night, Brookline Police responded to a report that a student was chasing a school employee with a chair at the Ivy Street School.

--An entry that isn't quite long enough for the Oddblotter but is odd nonetheless: The Brookline TAB blog spotted a blotter entry in which a woman reported that someone broke into her house and left "underware [sic]" behind.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
