Be There: Rally for Striking Writers With Joss Whedon
WGA Strike Support Rally

Harvard Square

Update: Bradley's Almanac just gave us a heads-up--the WGA East announced "Please RSVP to 212-767-7843 and leave the number of people in your party" if you plan to attend the event at the church.
By now, we're all sick of the writers' strike, and Bostonist HQ is suffering from MCRW (Major Colbert Report Withdrawal). Rest assured, the writers are even sicker of the strike than you are.
With that in mind, fans4writers.com has gathered together some big names for a rally and march. Joss Whedon of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame, Jamie Paglia (co-creator of "Eureka"), and Rob Cutner ("The Daily Show") will be on hand.
Paglia has posted a rousing letter to fire people up for the rally. He writes, "We know our position is just, and we'll keep adding similar demonstrations in cities across the country until we get a fair deal." The entire letter is at fans4writers.com.
Whedon and actress Eliza Dushku just joined the strike in Los Angeles, and LAist has pictures. Now, we have no confirmation that anyone else is joining Whedon, Paglia, and Cutner for the Cambridge rally, but Dushku is from around here, so it's not entirely out there to imagine that she could show up, is it?
Joel Brown at HubArts describes the program for the day: "The agenda calls for a Cambridge Forum program at the First Parish Church, followed by a march over to the Harvard Lampoon building for an outdoor rally."
Harvard Square may not be Hollywood or New York, but the Lampoon is the breeding ground for television's future writers.* Whatever contract gets signed as a result of the strike will have a direct impact on them. If the strike is resolved before Friday, then the rally will become a celebration.
After the rally, the party will move down to Pandemonium Books in Central Square. Pandemonium staff will also be at the rally handing out coupons.
*When they aren't cutting down trees owned by the city of Cambridge for no reason at all. Sorry, Lampoon, but Bostonist had to say it.
