Big Blimpin': The Ron Paul Blimp Launches but Cancels Boston Stop

120907_ronpaulblimp.jpg

The forces behind the Ron Paul Blimp suffered many delays. For a while, it seemed like the blimp promoting the campaign of Republican candidate/Internet sensation Ron Paul might not launch. But they launched their blimp this morning at 9:00 am from Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather, the Ron Paul Blimp won't be making it up to Boston in time for the Ron Paul Rally and the Boston Tea Party re-enactment. The current blimp schedule puts them in Columbia, SC, for the tea party. We were really looking forward to seeing how the Ron Paul Blimp would be incorporated into the tea party re-enactment at the Old State House, so we're a little disappointed, but we'll let you know if the blimp tries to buzz Boston again.

You can keep track of the blimp at the Ron Paul Blimp Blog, and, if you are a Ron Paul supporter or merely interested in the Ron Paul phenomenon, a Tea Party-related Ron Paul rally is still scheduled Sunday afternoon at the State House.

Thanks for the positive coverage. We (grassroots) are all very much disappointed too. However, the "blimp team" deserves a lot of credit as they have overcome so much in such a short period of time. Unfortunately, mother nature wasn't very cooperative.

I encourage everyone to attend the rally. Even if you aren't a Ron Paul supporter it is a great group of people from all walks of life, age groups, and political parties. More than anything we aren't united around a person/candidate per-se, we are uniting around the principle of freedom, liberty, and prosperity. That they are not mutually exclusive is what the founders knew and what we Americans should always keep in mind.
