Michael Crigler is primarily known as a fashion designer and artist. He makes clothes for his Birdhead line and is having an opening this weekend at LAB, but this opening is also a farewell party. Crigler and his wife, Lauren, are going on a trip around the world to do volunteer work.

The money raised during the show will fund their trip, the Chase the Rising Sun project. Sharon Steel at the Phoenix talked to Crigler about his new wanderlust. He told her, "But I felt like, even through my art, my clothing, and my design, it wasn’t enough for me.”

So he and his wife are tackling the mother of all New Year's Resolutions--giving back. And, this weekend, you can see the pair off and maybe get a good T-shirt out of the deal. Keep an eye on www.chasetherisingsun.com to learn how their year turns out.
