First Night has been preparing to ring in the New Year. Revelers can enjoy all the First Night outdoor events, such as the ice sculptures and the fireworks, for free. But they'll need to pick up a button to attend the indoor events, such as the Downbeat 5 and Harry and the Potters at the Hynes Convention Center. Bostonist will be listing the highlights in the days to come.

The art on this year's button comes from photographer Mike Ritter of Dorchester.

First Night buttons can be purchased for $15 at Shaw's and Star Markets, Store 24, L'il Peach, Tedeschi's, and Au Bon Pain. On December 31, you can get the buttons for $20 at the Hynes Convention Center and at booths on the Common and at the Public Garden. All button locations can be found at the First Night site.
