Bostonist Gift Guide: Retro Goodies From Buckaroo's Mercantile

121707-wwtoiletseat.jpgWhen Bostonist entered Buckaroo's Mercantile, a pop-culture store across the street from T.T. the Bear's and the Middle East in Central Square, stocking stuffers were on our mind. The owner of Buckaroo's Mercantile, Brooks, layers retro images over metal wallets, night lites, light-switch plate covers, and more.

Brooks told Bostonist that all of the above items were hot sellers at the Bazaar Bizarre, and you can buy them at the store. You can also choose a retro image from the Image Gallery at his online store and have it printed on any number of items.

However, one Buckaroo's Mercantile gift stood out among the rest. Aspiring Santas can't shove this present into a stocking, but this object is an ideal gift for a strong woman who deserves a throne--the Wonder Woman Toilet Seat!

The Wonder Woman Toilet Seat is one of Brooks' hottest items. He said he has sold 500 or 600 total, and he had a few sitting out behind the counter, waiting to be shipped to lucky customers. When asked if people actually--ahem--put the seats to use, he looked a bit surprised and said that yes, in fact, they do. You can choose from several Wonder Woman images, and then Brooks bedazzles them into something special. (Bedazzles are optional if you sometimes sit on the seat-top.)

If Wonder Woman isn't your thing, you can also order toilet seat covers with Elvis, Frida Kahlo, and more.
