Sorry. You're Not As Popular as the Globe
Here comes red meat for the Weekly Dig's Media Farm: Yesterday the Globe decided to share the holiday cards it received with the public and show just how uncool the great unwashed really are.
In fact, whoever put the slide show together said as much: "You may not have received Christmas and other holiday cards from the likes of Caroline Kennedy, Bob Kraft, NASCAR, and the Red Sox -- but we did."
Now we're sad because we're not going to get Christmas cards from the Kennedys and the Red Sox. To soothe this social slight, we looked at the cards to see what we were missing. We didn't miss much. We thought the Globe would get cards from heavy hitters, and they did get a card from the Red Sox, but a card from the staff of Clinique? The staff of Clinique look like nice people, but would you run down the street shouting that you got a holiday card from Clinique? That's an advertisement.
Ditto for Robert Kraft, Pats owner, who plugged in mentions of everything he owns in his card that says "Warm Wishes … buy my stuff."
And what of the cards we didn't see? We'd love to know what the casino interests are sending to members of the legislature and whether or not Donald Trump sent a holiday card to Governor Patrick.
Screengrab of the Globe's holiday mantle.

We may not be Kennedy's (though we are alcoholics prone to odd deaths) and we never send out Christmas cards - but you are our favorite
