The Top Oddblotter Story of 2007

Here's the top Oddblotter story of the year--just in time for Christmas! You've already seen some impressive tales, but the winning Oddblotter story of the year is a real head-scratcher.

111107-david-ajemian.jpg1. The Priest Who Stalked Conan O'Brien.

As if Boston priests didn't already have a bad reputation (sorry, Cardinal O'Malley, but they still do), Father David Ajemian, who had worked in Stoneham, took a shine to Conan O'Brien. The pair had a lot in common, so Ajemian thought. They were both from the Boston area and Harvard grads. Ajemian was such a big O'Brien fan that he posted on the NBC message boards.

Hey, a priest needs an outlet, right? But then it got weird. After posting nearly 600 messages to the NBC board, Ajemian took a trip down to New York City and tried to break into an O'Brien taping. He was promptly arrested.

Then it got weirder. Ajemian's parents, who live in the South End, posted bail and took him home. While home, Ajemian ran away and went on a Boston misadventure. The BPD issued a "BOLO" (Be on the Lookout) for the missing priest, who was spotted at the WHDH studio (WHDH is an NBC affiliate). A security guard tossed him, and Ajemian eventually self-admitted to the hospital.

All charges alleged until proven under law. Photo from the AP.

Yes, #1, we must preserve the illusion that Catholic priests are mentally, emotionally and morally fit for leadership!

Heaven forbid that this priest becomes upset because his crazy and illegal actions become generally known! So we'll just sweep this incident under the rug just as all those inconvenient child abuse incidents were.

It is in the spirit of Catholic love, after all, to prevent priests from getting punished for their crimes.

It's tough enough that they have to say some Hail Mary's and get transferred to another diocese! Poor little guys.

    #2, the link is broken.

In the Spirit of Love (Christmas), please give this man a break and delete this story.

You don't have your facts and everything that's been written about him is frankly cruel.
