BPD Shenanigans Give Ed Davis a Headache
Police commissioner Ed Davis has a lot to handle now that an internal audit shows drug evidence has either gone missing or has been tampered with in almost 1,000 cases.
WBZ serves up some scary details about events at the BPD warehouse in Hyde Park. Whoever's been messing with the drugs worked hard to cover it up: "In 90 cases involving evidence like pills or tablets, someone removed the drugs and replaced them with aspirin or Tylenol."
The department also had some trouble fending off temptation for the officers. The report showed that employees with past drug problems ended up working at the warehouse, and "the drug vault was left open when it was not in use." That's like asking a kid to eat all the candy in the store. However, Ed Davis told WBZ that's going to change.
The whole investigation started when suspicions arose that officers may have been dipping into the stash, a la Super Troopers. Those officers were transferred from the warehouse.

""I can assure you that every stone will be unturned to find out what happened down there," Davis said. "
Given the long and well-documented history of corruption in the BPD, I'm sure that Mr. Davis was accurately quoted and that it was not a 'Freudian' slip.
