Thanks to an influx of new readers, Bostonist grew this year, and we'd like to launch a few new regular columns. Here's the specifics:
1. Food Writer: One column every Tuesday. Bostonist's New Year's Resolution is to write more about food. As you can see, we are partial to recipes and restaurant reviews.
2. Drink Writer: This city loves its booze. Bartender interviews, reviews of new drinks, reviews of your favorite bars--we'd love to hear about it. Uh, you're over 21, right?
3. Fashion Writer: If anyone out there has ideas on how to look decent in the dead of winter, please, please, please share it with the rest of us.
4. Music Reviews and Previews: You may have noticed the daily posts "Happening Tonight." Bostonist needs blurbs particularly for music. We already have a crack team that does interviews, previews, and reviews--we just want more!
5. Local Politics: Bostonist would like to launch a MeninoWatch or a DevalWatch. The ideal writer for this section would address the positives and the negatives, the silly and the serious. The main point is to cut to the chase, tell readers what's going on, and maybe give them a little laugh.
6. YouTube Watcher: Someone who keeps an eye out for local clips or can alert others on the Bostonist staff about great clips, like ones of Bill Belichick making a PB&J sandwich.
If you have a pitch for any other weekly series, we'd love to hear it. Drop us a line with at least one writing sample (a link to your blog is OK, too) and two ideas for what you would write about in one of the subjects above or one of your proposed series.
Regarding pay … well, we don't pay. But, before you rush off, if you are looking to build a set of clips, develop a platform for a book, or catch the eye of people who do pay, Bostonist is a great place to get started.
