Any given team, any given night -- in this case, any given Saturday. The Jaguars are preparing to do what they can to put the Patriots' perfect season to an end, and they'll give it a shot tonight at 8:00 p.m.
Bill Belichick would note that tonight's game features two teams with the same record - 0-0. But just about everyone else out there is putting their money or bragging rights on New England. We're especially fond of Simmons' summary ("Maybe the Pats can be beaten, but not by these guys. In fact, I'm insulted that you even think this might be close").
Folks over at Jaguars.com are among the minority choosing Jacksonville, but they're the first to tell you that they shouldn't be taken seriously, so why would we listen to them anyway? Madden NFL 08 gives New England a 34-31 win, and we all know that video game simulation is as close to the real thing as, you know, the real thing. Thanks, Boston.com!
The Pats are well-rested. The Pats outmatch their Jaguar counterparts in almost every category. If the regular season is any indication, the Pats are ready to play. So let's go!
-- The Celtics demonstrated again that they refuse to fall twice in a row. After that loss we shan't speak of again, Boston showed up in New Jersey ready to play and went on to win 86-77. Garnett, Pierce, and Allen scored 20, 18, and 16, respectively. At 30-4, the Celts are now tied for the best start to the season in franchise history (a distinction shared with the 1959-1960 club). Since we're feeling good about the win, we'll ignore the fact that the Nets couldn't sink a basket to save their lives on Friday night and focus instead on the fact that Boston plays the Wizards in the District City tonight.
