Boston Blotter: Man Killed in Dorchester Ambush

033107_body_outline.jpg--A man was shot yesterday afternoon on Dorchester Avenue in what the Herald describes as an "ambush from behind." The 20-year-old victim was taken to the hospital but later died from his wounds. [BPD News, Boston Herald]

--Fallout from the BPD officer arrested for holding up a Roslindale gas station. The family of Michael T. Jones is surprised. His mother added a few more details about him and said that he took time off from work between 2004 and 2006 because he was in a car accident that left him with a pinched nerve. Besides the injury, Jones was also the subject of an internal affairs complaint in the 1990s. The employee who was held up said, "Every time I talk about it, I start shaking." --A Clinton adviser was arrested for drunk driving in Nashua the day before the primary. That might be proof that the primaries can drive people to the bottle. [Smoking Gun]

--Two teenagers held up a man at knifepoint in the Stop & Shop parking lot at the South Bay Shopping Center yesterday afternoon. Police apprehended them and retrieved the guy's iPod. [BPD News]

--In another sweep for "Operation Squeeze," the BPD netted eight aspiring johns on Blue Hill Avenue on Friday night. One tipper caught the following sentence in the "Squeeze" announcement: "This Friday, around 10:00pm, officers from District B-2 undertook ‘Operation Squeeze’ in an effort to deter prostitution in the Blue Hill Ave. area and prevent all the deleterious effects of prostitution such as drug use, sale and the violence that often accompanies this problem." What about deleterious effects such as unfortunate appearances on "COPS"? [BPD News]
