Happening Tonight: Kimya Dawson, Facebook Garage

Music
Kimya Dawson has long been one of those buried indie-rock treasures, at least until the release of Juno. The former member of the Moldy Peaches and avid livejournal diarist contributes a large part of the soundtrack, and stars Ellen Page and Michael Cera cover one of her songs, "Anyone Else But You." In fact, Page suggested that Dawson be on the soundtrack since she felt Juno would be a Moldy Peaches fan.

Bostonist Victoria Welch just did a piece on Dawson for the Phoenix and praises the song "Loose Lips" in particular: "'Loose Lips' allows Dawson to deliver rapid-fire lyrics, tell President Bush to fuck off, and sound terribly sweet at the same time." Dawson will be at Newbury Comics at 7:00 pm, and it's free. You may be seeing a review of the gig in this space quite soon …

She'll also be playing a house in Jamaica Plain afterward. Her livejournal lists the address as 3 Sheridan Street, and the show will start at 8:00 with her going on a little later when she's done at Newbury Comics.

Facebook
Tame your Facebook before it tames you. If you're on it all the time, then you may as well know how to master it and maybe make some money off it. The fourth annual Facebook Developer Garage will be at MIT's Stata Center at 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Yes, you can RSVP on Facebook.
