Bite Size News

Greetings From Boston

-- Former "Most Eligible Bachelor," and now infamous sleazeball, Gary Zerola has been acquitted of kidnapping and attempted rape by a jury after less than a day of deliberation. He still faces other charges. However charges that he's a major creep still pending in the court of public opinion. [Boston Globe]

-- An already odd case continues to grow stranger amid reports that the tragic deaths of Marcelle Thibault and her niece and nephew on I-495 in Lowell was actually a double murder-suicide. New details were released which stated that after driving the wrong way on the highway Marcelle pulled over, stripped herself and the children naked, and walked into oncoming traffic. She had a history of mental illness. [WBZ]

-- It was ruled that the bank robber who won $1 million on a State Lottery scratch ticket will be allowed to keep his prize, even though he violated his probation by purchasing the ticket. Some people have all the luck. [Boston Herald]

-- Commuters rejoice! The looming Amtrak strike has been avoided. Somewhere in Thailand Dan Grabauskas sighs in relief and promptly returns to his sight-seeing. [Boston Globe]

-- A powerful fire in Chelsea early this morning has left dozens homeless. Several firefighters sustained injuries while fighting the three-alarm blaze. [Boston Herald]

-- A middle-school science teacher in Brookline has been fired after duct-taping a female student's mouth shut. Maybe it was part of a class experiment? We don't think so either. [Boston Globe]

-- High school students in Connecticut are protesting their right to dance drrrrty. [WCVB]

And somewhere at the Herald, the genius who invented a Grabauskas controversy out of whole cloth looks like a guy with pee stains on his khakis. Rule of thumb, "Scoop", if it's a non-issue to Howie and the Track Gals, you probably want to leave it alone too.
