Lansdowne Overhaul: Too Big and Too Small
Having trouble getting concert tickets lately? The changes on Lansdowne Street might be to blame, as suggested by Michael Marotta at the Herald. Renovations on Avalon and Axis hasn't started, and bands who would have been perfect for that spot in a bind. Either they play shows in venues that are too big, which makes the band look lame, or their shows sell out in small venues. Take what's happened to Editors and Justice for example:
Saturday night, UK post-punk band the Editors played to a sea of empty seats at the 2,800-seat Orpheum, an inappropriately large theater. A week earlier, tickets to see red-hot French dance duo Justice, who are playing Madison Square Garden in New York, immediately sold out at the too-small 650-capacity Paradise.
If a much-loved act is coming to town and scheduled for the Paradise, set the thought of being spontaneous and carefree aside, and get the tickets now. (Cat Power will be at the Orpheum on February 7. Phew. Then again, with the massive buzz for Jukebox, you might wanna get on it.) Bostonist recommends using Tourfilter to find out the details on when your favorite band is coming to Boston.

This sucks....as lame as Avalon/Axis are. They're all too happy to take your money but treat you like shit if you're there for rock and not part of the cokesnort BU party people discofest.
The Editors show sold out. What gives?
HarmyG, I was at the Editors show and I was also struck by the number of empty seats visible during much of the night. I should note, however, that I stopped noticing when Editors took the stage and started to kick some ass.
