Happening Tonight: DJ Spooky Conquers Boston, Inner Fish

Music
The ICA has invited DJ Spooky (aka Paul D. Miller) to town for an entire weekend. Don't forget--Bostonist has the full scoop and will provide a review. The first event is the talk "Rhythm Science," a multimedia event in which he talks about the ever-changing media landscape and its impact on artists. ICA Boston, 6:30 pm., $12.

Books
Neil Shubin will read from Your Inner Fish: A Journey Into the 3.5-Billion-Year History of the Human Body. He's the guy who discovered Tiktaalik, the being that links humans to fish. Even cooler, he brought Tiktaalik with him to the Colbert Report. Hilarity ensues, as shown below:

Shubin will be at Harvard Book Store at 7:00 pm, free.

Then again, evolution might not push your buttons. To push your buttons in a completely different way, hear Susie Bright read from Best American Erotica 2008 at Brookline Booksmith, 7:00 pm, free.

Well, I'd love to be at Neil's event, and he probably feels the same way in reverse. I often wish bookstores would think of odd pairings, because it makes things a lot more fun! My favorite event of all time was when I was oddly paired with President Oscar Arias of Costa Rica, in Iowa, of all places.

Please notify me when Colbert is ready to discuss his sexual evolution!
