As Boston and New York brace for another symbolic sports showdown in the form of the Super Bowl, New York media outlets are busy painting Tom Brady as a "girlie man."
Radar threw down the gauntlet, sneering that Boston was "New York's partial-birth kid brother" (klassy) and reminding us that Brady is hanging out in New York City before the game, hardy har. Might they be hiding some inferiority complexes of their own?
The New York Post quoted some Patriots fans, including a few at Barstool Sports, who think Brady's presence is either rude to Boston or risky, in case a Manning fan goes for his knee.
They wanna start a New York-Boston rivalry? Well, let's settle down and not take the bait. Contrary to their opinion of Boston sports fans as hypersensitive numbskulls, the New York papers seem to want to start a fight.
No one can dispute the facts--the Patriots are the best team in football, and their record is better than that of the New York Giants. Why should Boston worry? The Patriots are good, whereas the Giants have much more to worry about. All the fretting over Brady's manliness and fondness for panty models will be for nothing if Brady shows up and does his job. And, his colorful personal life aside, Tom Brady is extremely good at doing his job.
And, besides, Tom Brady makes for a better male model than Eli Manning, who has had his fair share of metrosexual moments, let us remind you. It doesn't matter if these two take the field in negligees--what matters is that Tom Brady throws well. Oh, and Manning is the one who has been stuck with the Sports Illustrated curse.
