Boston Blotter: Melee at the IHOP

012708-ihop-logo.gif--Two employees at the International House of Pancakes in Brighton got into a knife fight yesterday evening at 5:00, just in time to scare the hell out of the early birds.

Bostonist nominates O'Ryan Johnson for best crime-writing line of the year thusfar: "A knife duel between two workers at a Brighton greasy spoon turned the eatery into the International House of Pain."

While the fight's setting makes it funny, the fight itself was anything but. One of the men involved in the fight went to the hospital with a stab wound. The BPD arrested another man as he tried to run from the scene. [Boston Herald, BPD News]

--An explosion happened at Kingsdale and Wales that prompted the appearance of a bomb squad. A caller informed the BPD of the explosion, and police found "a car parked in front of 83 Wales St. with a window blown out and a distinct smell chemical smell coming from the car." Police determined the cause was an electrical fire in the car. [BPD News]

--Police arrested six people in the Berkshires on charges that they were running a substantial drug operation. [WHDH]

All charges alleged until proven under law.
