Did you know that there's another Dave from Somerville on reality television this season? Well, somewhat. This Somerville Dave left Massachusetts for Los Angeles, made his fortune in sex toys at sextoy.com (find it yourself), started wearing a semi-faux-hawk, and installed a stripper pole in his home.
Sextoy Dave made an appearance on Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker, in which a woman runs a business for millionaires to meet his ideal lover. (She swears it isn't an escort service.) Sextoy Dave is looking for his one true love, a beautiful woman who looks like Paris Hilton and who will love him and his stripper pole. For Dave, the stripper pole is a dealbreaker. He loves it so much that he's taught himself a few moves on the pole. Even when the Millionaire Matchmaker tries to convince Sextoy Dave to move the pole to his basement, he refuses.
Even though it is the modern age, it's going to be hard to find this guy a long-term romance, if only because not all women want to compete with the stripper pole and anyone else who might be touching it. The Millionaire Matchmaker paired Sextoy Dave with a Harvard grad who didn't seem to mind the stripper pole, but she decided not to pursue the relationship.
SH Bagley at the Somerville Journal talked to Sextoy Dave, who said that he "initially signed on to promote his business," but of course he added that he wants love. Of course he does. Then again, after seeing the show, he didn't seem like he would mind living life as a carefree bachelor.
Image of Sextoy Dave and his pole from Bravo. A report on the Massachusetts brothers who are sweating it off on The Biggest Loser after the jump!
While eagerly awaiting the return of America's Next Top Model, Bostonist realized we hadn't checked in with The Biggest Loser in a while. This season, two brothers from Massachusetts are losing weight on the show. Jay of New Bedford and Mark of Dartmouth, the Black Team, are from Massachusetts, and they have everyone else on the show nervous.
The Biggest Loser isn't just about losing weight, unfortunately. Players are also tempted to kick off people who stick with the program and lose weight because they are most likely to win. Hence, people often chug water and throw weigh-ins to bolster alliances and get ahead (Exhibit A: Neil Tejwani from last season, whom you'll hear more of tomorrow). Jay and Mark are the team to beat, so everyone is angling to kick them off. This week, the various couples were pitched against the Yellow Team, an ex-husband and ex-wife, who had to beat all the other couples.
When the various couples realized that the Yellow Team might beat them, some of them started "gaining water weight" so they could kick off the Black Team. Luckily, Jay and Mark did so well that they gained immunity, and the cheaters got stuck with extra pounds and a bad rep.
