Sports Redux: Seven Days To Go

This morning, the Patriots are headed to Phoenix. Most of America is uncomfortably embracing a New York team as "good"'s only hope against "evil", while we're just waiting and anticipating that Tom Brady will eventually show up and rejoin the team. (We think he will; it's not Manny we're talking about here.)

Luckily for the Pats, another opponent has decided to open his big mouth and give them something other than Brady's foot to talk about. The Giants' Plaxico Burress opined that the NY receivers are equal to or better than the Patriots' record-setting corps. "We'll see," replied Rodney Harrison.

We WILL see. And you can see along with us, since Bostonist will be live-blogging the Super Bowl. It worked in Game 2 and Game 4 of the World Series, as well as the Pats-Colts game, so we'll try to make the magic last for one more night.

In winter sports news, the Celtics go to Orlando this afternoon to try to avenge their loss their earlier this season, and also shake off the cobwebs from just barely beating the Timberwolves. The NHL All-Star Game is this weekend; Zdeno Chara of the Bruins rocked the individual skills contests, shooting a slapshot clocked at 103.1 miles an hour (wow) and winning that contest for the second year in a row. The Globe looks at how Big Z decided to refocus on winning after some New Jersey trashtalking.
