House of Blues Takes Over Lansdowne Street

012908-house-of-blues.JPGThe House of Blues has bought the Lansdowne Street clubs, including Avalon and Axis. How is this going to affect the renovations of Avalon and Axis, which has had a negative impact on performers and fans since the venues shut down? The Globe reports:

"The only thing that has changed is in place of a sign that says Lansdowne Music Hall, it will say House of Blues," Lyons said yesterday. He will continue to own the real estate and will be landlord under a long-term lease to the House of Blues, which will book and operate the club.

The brand name "House of Blues" "is expected to be able to attract bigger-name acts," so the Globe says, which might still result in the problem that has dogged mid-level acts like Editors, who are to big for the Paradise and too small for the Orpheum. And the House of Blues

Patrick Lyons, the now-former owner of Avalon and Axis, co-founded the House of Blues in Cambridge before it blew up into the Vegas-y venue it's known as today, so a concert circle is complete.
