Boston Blotter: Yakovleff Update, Weapons Round-Up
--An update on the murder of Daniel Yakovleff, who was stabbed to death in Dorchester. The lawyer for the man who owned the apartment in which Yakovleff died says that the BPD no longer considers the owner a suspect and that they are looking for a third man who may be involved with the crime. However, the BPD is saying that the owner is still a "person of interest." Police are still trying to find out how Yakovleff went from the Eagle bar in the South End to the Dorchester apartment. --The BPD (BPD News is back--Bostonist is elated) raked in the weapons yesterday. A Dorchester man was arrested because his house should have been called "Guns 'n' Drugs R Us." A 17-year-old was arrested on Brinton Street for packing 50 rounds of ammo. Then there was the guy who had pot, an open bottle of beer, a folding knife, and a loaded weapon. Believe it or not, he was driving with all this on him. And they say cell phones are distracting! [BPD News]
--Four teens were arrested yesterday for the murder of a 43-year-old man on January 11. All have pled not guilty. [AP/Boston Globe]
--Yet another pizza guy faced robbers and was stabbed by two guys trying to score some free Papa Gino's in Framingham. The pizza guy fought back with a two-liter of soda, and he's going to be all right. The pizza perps are still at large. [WBZ]
--Local colleges are trying to stop any post-Super Bowl parties before they start. Suffolk, UMass-Dartmouth, and Wentworth are threatening students with expulsion if they act up. Yet Bostonist expects to see plenty of glassy-eyed revelers the day after the big game. [Boston Herald]
