Boston Blotter: BPD Braces for Super Bowl

--Some home-robbers used a van with the words "Tiny's Flowers" emblazoned on the side to cover up their burglar bungling. Too bad for them that a victim pulled up to her house just as they were taking her stuff. [BPD News]

--The Herald speaks to a victim of the man who has picked up at least two victims, taken them to Charlestown, and raped them. Her ordeal brings home that police need to find this bastard. Now. [Boston Herald]

--The latest addition to crime-fighting in Boston? Peggy the K-9, who can sniff out firearms that have been recently used. [Boston Herald]

--One alleged drug-dealing perp from Revere learned that burning one's fingers to prevent fingerprints does not work. The burning must sting, and the scent of scorched flesh probably lingers. Why go to the trouble if you're going to be caught anyway? [Boston Herald]

--Bostonist doesn't always look as far out as Springfield for blotter material, but it's hard to ignore a story about a patrolman who got into a fight with a lieutenant and a sergeant. The fight sent the lieutenant to the hospital. The incident makes us yearn for the harmless pranks seen in the Police Academy movies. [WCVB]
