Sunday Happenings

Super Bowl
--Looking for a good Super Bowl party? Bring your favorite beer mug to the Milky Way, where the big game will screen, and then you can celebrate with some candlepin bowling. Sponsored by the Mug Project, which wants people to use a mug instead of guzzling their way through disposable cups, and Neighbors for Neighbors. 6:00 pm.

--MenuPages also provides listings of restaurants with promising Super Bowl parties, including 75 Chestnut, Big City, Croma, and Vox Populi. Let the invasion of the hot wings commence!

--But, wait, there's more! Bostonist will be live-blogging the Super Bowl tonight. Expect sparkling nuggets of snark about the whole Giants clan, "resident Huckleberry" Eli Manning, and the commercials. Bring your virtual beer, your virtual chips 'n' dip, and your best lines for the comments.

Then again, what if the above paragraphs mean nothing to you? What if you are wondering what is the strange ritual people seem to be embroiled in today? All these people are buying chips 'n' dip. They are wearing the same colors and seem to be saying the same words over and over, like a mysterious chant, "Braaa-dy," "Mossssss," "Bel-i-CHICK," "Bel-i-CHICK." Just scratch your heads and move on, folks. If you don't know by now, we can't help you, but we have advice and a few alternative events below:

Books
Surgeon-slash-author (man, isn't it enough to be just one of those?) Atul Gawande visits Coolidge Corner to talk about medical literature such as his best-selling Complications:A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased from Brookline Booksmith. -KS

Naughty Comics
The exhibit Inappropriate Touching: Dirty Comics and Art promises that the sexy comic art on display is "bound to stimulate something." If you can't get your kicks from thinking about Tom Brady's bod (or the bod of his significant other), then get them here with work by Liz Prince, Karl Stevens, and others. The show will be on display today at the Washington Street Art Center between noon and 4:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays, until the 24th. 321 Washington Street, Somerville.
