--The 35-year-old victim of Sunday's shooting in Dorchester, Donald George Smith Jr., was not the intended target, according to police. He was visiting his girlfriend at the time of the murder. [Boston Herald]
--Another high-profile incident in Springfield: A man with a machete went on a rampage, injuring two people. The alleged attacker said he was getting revenge because one victim had stabbed his sister. [WBZ]
--The BPD set out some juicy bait for a perp who has been allegedly stealing items from cars near Proctor and Mass Ave. They laid out a computer in a car, sat back, and waited. The perp couldn't resist and was caught after a foot chase. [BPD News]
