Sports Redux: Hell, No, They Won't Go

bradymoss.jpgIt seems for some reason, Tom Brady and Randy Moss don't want to take a 6,000 mile flight this week and be reminded of Sunday's crushing disappointment. Brady's ankle issues are well-documented, of course, but Randy is feeling sympathy pain and is skipping the trip to Hawaii as well. So the Pro Bowl will have to go on without them. Tissues all around.

The fallout is still...well, falling. The Patriots have to decide how much they're willing to offer Randy and Asante Samuel to come back next year. The New York press is talking dynasty. Bill Belichick is giving a wrapup press conference this afternoon, which should break the local record for giggles and merriment (someone has GOT to ask him about the red sweatshirt). And Dan Shaughnessy is back in his misery zone, never having met a pig-pile he didn't want to jump on. We'll understand if you don't want to read that one.

The Bruins host Buffalo tonight for the 54th time this season, while the Celtics are in Cleveland, without Kevin Garnett again. KG may be home wining and dining the Clippers' Sam Cassell, who everyone thinks will soon be bought out and able to sign with anybody. Like, for instance, the Celtics. Also, while our sports attention was diverted somewhat this weekend, the Lakers got Pau Gasol from Memphis for a suitcase full of pinball-machine parts. Interesting.

The first round of the Beanpot was last night at the Garden. Harvard got the party started early, scoring three times in the first seven minutes, then clamping down to preserve the 3-1 win over Northeastern. BC then got an overtime goal from Nathan Gerbe to beat BU, meaning the Terriers won't be in the Finals for the first time in 14 years. "I'm still kind of bummed out about our Pats," said BC coach Jerry York after the game, which would be an awesome opening line for Belichick at today's media gathering.
