This afternoon, Bostonist waited in the cold rain for Paris Hilton to show up at the Harvard Lampoon castle this afternoon and had to leave because she was running so late. Bostonist was surprised by the small size of the crowd and thought it would have been bigger. A few people, including the news teams, couldn't wait to see Paris Hilton in person. Others stopped by briefly to take in the minor ruckus. One conversation among passers-by went like this:
Bystander: What's going on here?
Bystander's Co-Worker: Paris Hilton is gonna be at the Lampoon today.
Bystander: Ooooooh! I've never seen a famous person!
Bystander's Co-Worker: She's not famous! She's a whore!
Bystander's Co-Worker proceeds to get into the whore theme, shouting, "Bring out the whore! Bring out the whore!"
Ms. Hilton certainly inspires strong feelings. Either people call her a whore, or they're willing to go to jail just to be near her.
Other people must have been secret Paris Hilton fans, for they stood around either trying to be ironic about the fact that they were waiting for Paris Hilton in the rain, or they wore vaguely guilty expressions.
Meanwhile, Adam Laiacano, who stuck around long enough to see Hilton and wrote about it at his blog, scored pictures and offers blow-by-blow documentation, including a few media fights. (CBS cuts in line.)
