Valentine’s Day is coming up next week and women everywhere are shopping like crazy to find the perfect outfit for that special date. So what about all of those single girls who have a whole lot of nothing planned for that evening? Many of them will do the generic, sit home in sweats, eat ice cream out of the container, and curse their friends who are part of a couple. Bostonist would like to recommend to the readers to stop being like Andrea Zuckerman, when Kelly asked Brandon out to the spring Dance before Andrea got the nerve to put the spoon down, put the ice cream back in the freezer, and get out there.
Valentine's is a time to celebrate and look your best doing it. So what if you don’t have anyone to waste your money on? Why not splurge and get yourself something? Buy yourself a gift. Granted, okay, in some cases this would be considered sad, like when women send flowers to themselves. But being nice to yourself can't hurt. The minute you look your best, you start to feel better about yourself.
Dying for a new pair of shoes? Fan of Manolos ? Get them! Need a new little black dress? Check out what Missoni has at Neiman’s? Buy it.

Go treat yourself to a facial, a mani/pedi and soak up the positive energy. We recommend Breathe Spa in Davis Square. For Valentine's you can treat yourself to a Chocolate Dipped Pedicure. There’s always the Chocolate Cherry Jubilee facial, or, if you want to channel you’re inner Marie Antoinette, try their "Have Your Cake and Eat It Too!" body treatment. When you’re done with this carrot cake-sequel experience, you’ll walk out looking and smelling just as yummy as the treats from Lyndell’s.
Don’t stay in on this night. Get dressed up, call a few people; you’re probably not the only one who’s alone during this generic holiday supported by the card and candy companies. Get a group; go somewhere nice where you can openly mock the couples there. There’s a chance you might meet someone there. We’re not saying to break up a relationship – but hey, things happen. You could walk in there looking like a million bucks alone, making Giselle and Adriana Lima look like Bert and Ernie and end up leaving with someone. Just be smart and safe about it. At the end of the day, if you’re not happy with yourself; what’s the point? Confidence is sexy, and, once we’ve all figured that out, we’ll all be better off in the end.
