We meant it as a joke when we said that former Romney aide Jay Garrity was the only one on the team having a good week. But it might be true. WBZ is reporting that Romney is "suspending" his campaign.
Leave it to Romney to use the euphemism "suspend" instead of "drop out." WBZ explains that he can keep his delegates "if something happened to front-runner John McCain's campaign." The language makes the situation sound as if Romney were the runner-up in a beauty pageant.
After Super Tuesday, columnists launched a Romney Campaign DeathWatch. However, only recently his advisers were saying he would last until the convention and pin his hopes on a "brokered convention." Michael Luo at the New York Times describes that as "no candidate secures the 1,191 delegates required to win the nomination on the first ballot."
The AP, however, does have a quote:
"This is not an easy decision for me. I hate to lose. My family, my friends and our supporters ... many of you right here in this room ... have given a great deal to get me where I have a shot at becoming president. If this were only about me, I would go on. But I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, I feel I must now stand aside, for our party and for our country."

Edwards "suspended" his campaign too. Since they have delegates and aren't endorsing another candidate they "suspend" so they still have some clout in the convention.
My question is, though, where's Kerry Healey?
my question is, what does everybody do with their foam mitts now?
maybe i don't want to know... (fanfic opportunity!)
