Thursday Happenings
Music
Cat Power will be at the Orpheum. Last time Bostonist saw her, she seemed a little plowed and, with her dark glasses, she resembled country singer Ronnie Milsap. Since then, she's been hanging out with Karl Lagerfeld. She's different every time, but the music is always memorable. 7:30 pm.
It's cosmopolitan night at the MFA, and we aren't talking about drinks. The uber-sophisticated Keren Ann and Dean & Britta will perform. MFA, Remis Auditorium, 7:30 pm, $20. It's sold out, so do what you must.
The Boston Conservatory Opera's run of The Turn of the Screw, adapted from the wonderfully creepy Henry James novella, will start tonight and go through February 10. Boston Conservatory Theater, 8:00, $20. Visit the Conservatory's website for full showtimes.
Booze, Chocolate
Who said nirvana was just a band? Local beer website Drink Craft Beer and Taza Chocolate offer a free beer and chocolate tasting tonight. You'll learn how to pair beer with chocolate to get that one-with-the-universe tingle without all the humming. The Wine Gallery 371 Boylston St., Brookline, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Free.
Famous People Sightings
Charlize Theron will be honored as Harvard's Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year with a parade and a roast. The tone will likely be different from the Paris Hilton event from yesterday, and maybe Theron will be on time.
