--The BPD gathered together owners of establishments that sell liquor in response to the two incidents in which a creep offered women rides, took them to Charlestown, and sexually assaulted them. According to the BPD, both crimes "originated in the State Street area."
At the meeting, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) gave advice to bar and club owners on how to stop these assaults before they start. [BPD News]
--Early this morning, a man was arrested for raping a woman in Chelsea. He allegedly choked her every time she screamed for help. Police acted quickly and had little trouble finding him since his footprints were in the snow. [DA's Office]
--Prison overcrowding is what happens when there are too many entries on the Blotter. Massachusetts prisons are freeing "hundreds" of prisoners, including 300 in Worcester county. [WBZ]
--In Belmont, a little boy was nearly kidnapped yesterday afternoon, and police are searching for the alleged kidnapper. The child did not recognize the person who tried to grab him. [WCVB]
--Several recent incidents involving assistants to prominent lawmakers have come to light. First, Carl Stanley McGee was accused of raping a teenage boy, and a spokesman for John McCain who lived in Boston was arrested Wednesday for punching his girlfriend. The McCain campaign fired him. He had been fired before by the Romney campaign for a domestic-violence episode in 2003. [AP/Boston Globe]
