With over 20 million accounts, Second Life has become a pop culture phenomenon. An Internet-based virtual world, the metaverse in which we can be the person we've always wanted to be (without putting in the hard-work of exercise or educational training) have very few competitors. Currently, there is an exhibition going on in Boston called Mixed Realities - an exploration of real and synthetic places made possible by computers and networks.

There's an exhibition for the next two months paired with a special, limited capacity workshop at Emerson tomorrow. The event is free and open to the public and takes place at the Bill Bordy Theater at 216 Tremont Street.

Current schedule:
Opening and Performance: February 7, 2008; 5-7 pm
Symposium: February 8; 10 am - 5 pm
Workshop: February 9; 1-5 pm (register here)
Exhibition: February 7 - April 15, 2008

Tomorrow's workshop may be booked up by the time you get to e-mailing the curator, Jo-Anne Green from New Radio and Performing Arts, but the exhibition goes on until mid-April. Open from Mondays through Fridays from 11am to 3pm, the exhibition takes place at the Huret & Spector Gallery.
