Sports Redux: Dances With Wolves
The good news for the Celtics is that the Timberwolf portion of their schedule is in the history books. After surviving a 1-point game against Minnesota at home a couple of weeks ago, the C's went to the Twin Cities and pulled out a 2-point win.
It started with a polite Minnesotan reaction for Kevin Garnett, who of course didn't play again but got a huge ovation from his former hometown fans. It continued with a stressful game, including a Kendrick Perkins injury (Perk says he's fine, which is good, because we're running out of big men) and a vicious hit on Ray Allen that wasn't called. And it ended when Allen's missed shot was tipped in by Leon Powe for the game-winner. Let's remember Bostonist was driving the Leon Powe bandwagon when it could have fit into a motorcycle sidecar.
So having survived 2 games against the West's worst, the Celtics record against the West stands at 15-0. That will be tested bigtime tomorrow afternoon when the defending champion Spurs come to town. Tony Parker didn't play last night in New York; he's home either resting his ankle or shielding his wife from reviews of her new movie.
The Bruins, needing a win to keep the (non-Timber)wolves from their door, overpowered Buffalo on offense, but couldn't connect until the third, when Zdeno Chara and Marco Sturm scored to erase a 2-0 deficit. In the shootout, Phil Kessel dribbled the puck between the legs of Ryan Miller (Kessel admitted it was a botched play and he's very very lucky), then Alex Auld stuffed Derek Roy to preserve the shootout victory. The win picks up a point on the Sabres, and jumps the B's into 7th in the East. Florida's in town tonight.
Curt Schilling's doctor is arguing with Red Sox medical staff over whether #38 needs shoulder surgery. If he gets the surgery and misses the season (likely), the Red Sox don't have to pay his 1-year contract. Yet it's the team who doesn't want him to go under the knife. This is all very confusing.
Meanwhile, Roger Clemens' former trainer, alleged steroid dealer, and current nemesis now says that he injected Roger's wife Debbie to make her look good for the couple's swimsuit photos. Giving us a chance once again to spotlight the Debbie Clemens Collection.

First, it was his and her towels. Then it was his and her steroid injections.
