Beer-Oriented Valentine's Dinners

beerheart.jpgThis Valentine's Day, there's no shortage of options for those whose preferred wining & dining is beering & dining.

Cambridge Brewing Company's skeezily-named Night of the Aphrodisiacs starts at 5 p.m. and includes a four courses "with every course built around an aphrodisiac and in some cases two or three": truffled artichoke, oysters, mango, anisette-honey, pinenuts, figs, coriander, chocolate. The beer menu includes Bostonist's beloved Weekapaug Gruit (an ale made with the herbs brewers used to use before they knew about hops), as well as a chocolate-chili porter and other crazy in-house brews tailored to the occasion (we have no idea what L'amour du Jour is).
Prix fixe? $40 per person. Dishes and beers will also be available à la carte.
Reservations? "Suggested." Usually the CBC only takes reservations for parties of six or more, but for Valentine's Day they're kindly making an exception so you don't have to set up a triple date or go poly. (617) 494-1994.

Jacob Wirth's four-course Belgian Beer Lovers' Dinner (6-10 p.m.) consists of more traditional offerings (choice of filet mignon or swordfish) paired with Hoegaarden, Stella Artois, Leffe, and (for dessert) Lindemans Framboise, sweetened with giveaways and gift bags courtesy of Stella Artois.
Prix fixe? $48 per person.
Reservations? "Recommended." (617) 338-8586.

Cambridge Common's own Belgian dinner, Hearts & Crafts (5 p.m. to midnight), pairs craft beers and foods cooked with those beers. Delirium Tremens is always vastly better on tap, and Bostonist imagines it'll be even lovelier between bites of "Pink Elephant Mussels with a Delirium Tremens Pale Ale Broth" and as a prelude to Casablanca at the Brattle Theatre.
Prix fixe? Nah. Everything's à la carte until they run out.
Reservations? "Available now and for any number." (617) 547-1228.

The Independent's Beer & Fondue Party (6-8 p.m.) in Union Square promises four different styles of fondue (which is two more than we were aware of) with four different Dogfish Head brews, including the limited, raspberried Fort and the ever-sturdy 90 Minute IPA.
Prix fixe? $25 per person.
Reservations? 617-440-6022.

The Tap's Second Annual Beer Dinner (6:30-9:30 p.m.) should be an ideal way to catch up with the Haverhill brewpub's not-yet-bottled creations, alongside smoked duck and whatnot. Chocolate milk porter? Get thee to a commuter rail platform.
Prix fixe? $50 per person.
Reservations? "Paid reservations only." (978) 374-1117.

A quick pre-dinner beer tasting can be had on Newbury Street, where Bauer Wine & Spirits will be pouring intriguing samples of high-ABV Smuttynose beers, including a wheat wine, a barleywine, and a Baltic porter, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
