Boston Blotter: Valentine's Day Edition

crime_scene_tape.jpg-- An early Valentine's Day celebration turned violent this morning when a 41 year-old Roxbury man allegedly assaulted his date in her Dorchester home with an aluminum pan. The pair had been celebrating the holiday with cocktails before they got into an argument. She was washing dishes when the argument escalated to blows. The suspect struck the victim repeatedly with the pan before police arrived. He stands charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. [BPDNews]

-- Love was in the air at a Framingham Wal-Mart yesterday when a husband and wife team were caught shoplifting. The Gardner couple -- he is 35; she is 34 -- were nabbed outside of the store after attempting to steal a television and a bottle of Gatorade. They both face counts of shoplifting property worth more than $100.[Metro West Daily]

-- And in Somerville, another couple will not be spending Valentine's Day together. Police apprehended a 29 year-old man at a Somerville Target February 8, serving a warrant for assault with intent to murder. In the course of the arrest, police noticed the suspect's 28 year-old girlfriend, a Medford woman, who was attempting to shoplift a video game. She was also carrying stolen credit cards and was charged with forgery and uttering. [Somerville Journal]

Wow I better keep my mouth shut around police officers (like the one in Baltimore with the skateboarders). Don't want to be charged with uttering!

I think "uttering" is my new second-favorite obscure criminal act. First is, and will always be, "defrauding the innkeeper".
