No "Feeling," No Love: Boston's Scholz Slams Huckabee

bostonband.jpgIt's not often that a musician can, with one letter, slam both a presidential candidate and an former bandmate. But apparently Tom Scholz is out to remind us that he's not your average longtime bassist rocker. Scholz, of Boston (the band) fame, recently sent a letter to Mike Huckabee to express his "shock" and displeasure over the politician's use of the Boston song "More Than a Feeling."

When we began to read the letter, we thought that it would reflect a style similar to that of Democrat John Mellencamp, who also recently asked Republican John McCain to lay off "This Is Our Country." Instead, Scholz went on to not only shoot down Huckabee (Scholz is all about Obama), but also former bandmate Barry Goudreau. Double-snap!

Goudreau has appeared with Huckabee on several campaign stops, thus suggesting that the Huck has the band's backing. In the Scholz letter, the writer makes it clear that that is not the case.

"I wrote and arranged More Than a Feeling, engineered and produced the recording, and actually played all the guitars on that BOSTON hit as well as most of BOSTON's songs, not the person holding a guitar in your promotion who identified himself as being 'of BOSTON,'" Scholz wrote. "Your claim that this was 'the guy who originally did it' is a bit mystifying since he never played on that recording, nor has he been 'of BOSTON' since he left my band over a quarter century ago, after performing with us for only three years."

Say it all together now: ANOTHER BOSTON CAGEMATCH!
